Part 1 of the exercise is depicted on the right-hand side of the diagram. The first player with a ball on position 1 (S) serves to A. During the serve, the setter (SV) penetrates. A passes the ball to SV and hits the set that he gets afterwards straight down the line.

Part 2 of the exercise is depicted on the left-hand side of the diagram. The (assistant) coach throws the ball to the defence player (V). V plays the ball to the setter, the setter sets the ball to A again, and A hits the ball straight down the line again.

The setters stay on the same position. A joins the line of serving players. V takes the position of A. S takes the position of V.
